HARRY WINKS could be the next Tottenham star to pull out of the England squad after Dele Alli’s withdrawal yesterday.
And Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has called on Three Lions chief Gareth Southgate to use striker Harry Kane sparingly in this break’s friendlies against Germany and Brazil.
Dele is out with a hamstring problem, while Winks twisted an ankle in yesterday’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Pochettino said: “He twisted his ankle in the first half. At the moment it is extremely painful. We must assess him with our medical staff and that of the national team.
“He is so excited to make the national team but it is up to the medical people. What are his chances? I don’t know.”
Kane, who missed the defeat at Manchester United last week with a hamstring strain before returning against Real Madrid on Wednesday, was subbed in the 75th minute yesterday.
He will join up with England but Poch admitted: “It’s a difficult situation for everyone.
“The most important thing is the national teams, including England, understand the needs of our players and help them so they will be fit when they return here.”
