Henri Lensbury: Nottingham Forest midfielder says he prefers dogs to women

HENRI LANSBURY spends Saturday nights frolicking with not one but two WAGS.

But where he differs from most other footballers is these have fur, wet noses and the only steamy thing about them are what they leave on the grass at his Hertfordshire farm.

Nottingham Forest’s captain is so daft about dogs that plans are already underway to open a home for pampered pooches when he retires from playing.

Lansbury said: “I like dogs more than women, and trust me, I like women.

“I’d rather stay in with my two dogs on a Saturday night than go out with my mates clubbing — one million per cent.

“It’s the way they greet you when you get in. Whether or not you have had a good or bad day, played well, won or had a stinker, they make you feel on top of the world.”

Barking-mad Lansbury rents a flat in Nottingham for training and matches but lives with gentle giants Roscoe and Prince at his rural pad other times.

Prince is a Pressa Carneira — a type of Spanish mastiff, weighing in at a whopping 50kg with a head bigger than an adult human’s.

Lansbury, 26, added: “Cleaning up the poo doesn’t bother me.

“Although when you put that plastic bag over your hand and reach down to the grass it can easily stretch to a couple of handfuls.

“But they’re like my babies. I haven’t got a girlfriend at the moment. I don’t really need one. Dogs don’t nag you for a start.

“I would like my own kids eventually, of course, but any woman would have to like my dogs first.

“That’s a must. I’m already talking to people about setting up a dogs’ home when I retire. I will own a kennels one day and I’ll be so happy.

“I’m definitely going to do it. I’m looking to the future now.

“I’ll muck in and do all the dirty work with it because I just love dogs so much.”

Lansbury’s folks look after his beloved hounds when he is away working for a Forest team battling to climb away from the wrong end of the Championship.
The midfielder has been offered a new three-year contract but at the moment talks are on hold and he could leave at the end of the season as a free agent.
Ahead of today’s teatime visit of Cardiff, Lansbury said: “It’s about trying to get some consistency.
“We’re a new team bedding in together and we’re picking up results here and there but we need to get some momentum.
“I’m sure that will come with time. Everyone’s working their socks off and I’m sure we’ll get it right and things will improve.”
