Henrikh Mkhitaryan set to be recalled by Jose Mourinho for Manchester United’s Carabao Cup clash against Bristol City

JOSE MOURINHO could hand Henrikh Mkhitaryan a shock recall for the EFL Cup tie against Bristol City.

The Armenian has not started a match for Manchester United since the 1-0 defeat at Chelsea on November 5 — and has only featured from the bench once in that period.

Reports have since emerged that his Old Trafford days are numbered and he could be offloaded in the January transfer window.

However, when asked if Mikhitaryan could return for the Ashton Gate fixture, Mourinho replied: “He can.

“I am making a few changes for the match, but not many because Bristol City are one of the best teams in the Championship.

“For me now, the Championship is not the Championship of five or ten years ago.

“The Championship is now high-quality teams with lots of players that could be playing in the Premier League easily.

“So we need to take the game really seriously. I am going to make a few changes and it is possible Mkhi is involved.”

Mourinho recently revealed Mkhitaryan has fallen down the pecking order — and that has led to strong reports of a January move.

He has been offered to Juventus as part of a deal to sign Alex Sandro, but the Serie A giants would prefer Daley Blind plush cash.
