Next came a summer spending spree fans could hardly believe.
Huddersfield broke their transfer record several times as Wagner sought to bring in all his new faces early, a trait we witnessed last season, and we all know how that panned out!
We had relied heavily on the loan market last season and that left a lot of gaps to be plugged in the squad.
The recruitment has been admiral so far with the captures of Steve Mounie and Laurent Depoitre certainly providing Huddersfield with a more physical strike force.
The £10million signing of Tom Ince from Derby is perhaps the best business buy of the summer window.
He will add not only goals and assists but the flair that Wagner likes to see, after all the game is supposed to be entertaining.
Pundits and betting companies alike may well write off Huddersfield Town, but underestimate the ultimate underdog and it will come back to bite you.
