Hughie Fury’s dad Peter launches X-rated rant at Joseph Parker’s promoter ahead of world title fight
HUGHIE FURY’S father was embroiled in a foul-match slagging match against Joseph Parker’s promoter David Higgins at the pre-fight press conference.
Higgins voiced his disapproval of the British referee that has been appointed for Saturday’s heavyweight title fight.
Referee Terry O’Connor has been selected to officiate the heavyweight bout which will see Joseph Parker make the second defence of his WBO world heavyweight title.
The 25-year-old’s promoter approached the top table and began exchanging blows with the opponent’s trainer, before being escorted out by security guards.
Peter Fury, the father and trainer of Hughie, stood up and replied: “Who gives a f*** about you anyway? F*** off, d***head, squealing like a pig! Let the men fight, f****** dummy.”
The successful trainer later added: “I do apologise for the swearing. When I came in this morning, it’s not nice when your promoter is saying they want to pull out the fight and run off to New Zealand with the money.
“You hear all this rubbish talk out of his mouth and he comes here and says, what about the referee?
“This is what I can do as fair play goes; Joseph Parker mutually picked the gloves, the ring was checked and approved by both teams, the dressing room is spot on, that’s what I can do.

“I want my son to win the world title with no hidden agendas.
“David Higgins is saying that because of the referee, it’s not fair. Is he insinuating that I’ve got the Boxing Board of Control, one of the most respected groups in world boxing, in my pocket?
“I have no interest in a referee, a judge or anyone else. I’m here to see my son win the world title, that’s what we’re here for.”
Parker’s fight with Fury, who is the mandatory challenger for the WBO belt, will be his first in the UK after a total of 23 professional fights.
Hughie, who is battling for his cousin Tyson’s old belt, will also be defending an unbeaten record on Saturday.
