As temperatures rose to an unbearable 50 degrees inside the carriages, air-conditioning failed causing hundreds of fans to panic and try any means necessary to force themselves free.

Video footage shows fans forcing the doors open before scrambling out and walking to the nearest train station where they were given water and treatment for the effects of the blistering heat.

To rub salt in the wounds, it meant the train lines were blocked causing hundreds of furious fans to miss the entire duration of the match.

Man City suffered a 1-0 defeat to Carlo Ancelotti’s men thanks to a goal from Erdal Ozturk but despite the loss, Guardiola was positive with his side’s performance.

“I am so happy, we did many things we spoke about well and in the right moment – that’s why we cannot forget which team we played,” the Spaniard said.

“We have many young players in the team and you’ve seen them here – all in all, I’m satisfied with what they’ve shown me.”
