Incredible moment ‘Shaolin monk’ absorbs a barrage of brutal punches from MMA fighter without flinching

THIS footage shows the incredible moment a self-proclaimed Shaolin monk barely flinches as he absorbs a brutal barrage of punches in an MMA clash.

Fearless Shaolin Yi Long, who describes himself as a monk, drops his arms and stands motionless as his opponent Brad Riddell delivers a number of unanswered blows.

A total of seven direct punches land on his face, but he appears unhurt and quickly responds with lethal blows of his own

Riddell, from New Zealand, won the contest by unanimous decision.

The clip begins when MMA-trained Yi Long, 30, lands a kick on his rival Riddell which is met with a devastating uppercut.

The Chinese brawler seems dazed but then inexplicably drops his hands and stands defenceless as the other fighter Riddell unloads.

Seven hits crash into the face of Yi Long but amazingly he looks unhurt and brushes them off with ease, reported the Daily Star.

Incredibly he turns the tables and returns fire, launching himself into Riddell with a flying knee.

The fight happened several years ago but the footage has recently re-emerged on social media with many people praising the bravery displayed by Yi Long.

One YouTube commentator said: “Now that is how you take a punch. Can’t say I would recommend it every time, though.”

The Daily Star reports that Long’s story took a strange twist when a spokesman for the Shaolin Temple claimed he has no affiliation to the spiritual group.

A statement read: “Yi Long, who was billed as the No. 1 Shaolin Kung Fu monk, is neither a Kung Fu monk of Shaolin Temple, nor could he be named as the No. 1 Shaolin Kung Fu monk at all.”

Yi Long tried the same tactic of dropping his hands and inviting punishment in another clash against Muay Thai fighter Josh Pickthall – but this time he was knocked out.

Shocking footage emerged in March showing two bare-knuckle boxers squaring up to each other and having a Fight Club-style dust up in Gran Canaria.
