Italian football fans caught on camera making Nazi salutes to Israel’s Jewish supporters during World Cup Qualifying match

A SHOCKING photo has emerged of Italian football fans making Nazi salutes towards Israel’s Jewish supporters during their World Cup Qualifier.

The disturbing incident came as the Israeli national anthem, the Hatikva, was being played on Monday night. Italian fans are also reported to have taunted and spat at the home team’s supporters.

And at the end of the match, visiting supporters had to be held back be pitchside security and the police as they attempted to run onto the field.

Two fans were ejected from the Sammy Ofer stadium, but neither are believed to have been arrested.

This has led to the Israel Football Association filing a complaint with their Italian counterparts over the disgraceful behaviour.

“The Israeli Football Association will send the photos to the Italian federation with which we have a warm and brave relationship so that it can find and prosecute the sickening minority that wanted to tarnish the visiting fans, their team and their country,” it said in a statement.

Italian football federation President Carlo Tavecchio has “strongly condemned” those who gave fascist salutes before Monday’s 3-1 win against Israel in Haifa.
