And they went up against a fearsome five of Robert Pires, Michel Salgado, David Trezeguet, Christian Karembeau with Brazilian legend Dida between the sticks.
For every goal scored in the match, €1000 was donated to a fund set up to help survivors of last month’s earthquake in Italy.
The goals rained in – 32 of them in fact – as both teams seemed to ditch goalkeeping duties and went about scoring as many as possible.
