Jack Wilshere will be a powerful attacking force and won’t get bogged down defending, says Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe

EDDIE HOWE wants Jack Wilshere to be a creative force for Bournemouth — despite a forgettable full debut.

The on-loan Arsenal man gave away the free-kick which led to Kevin De Bruyne putting Manchester City in front early on.

And his team were overrun in midfield — meaning he was jeered when he was subbed in the second half with the  Cherries 4-0 down.

Yet Howe dismissed suggestions that the game had passed Wilshere by.

He  said: “I wouldn’t say that. You can’t blame one individual. As a team we didn’t function very well.

“We didn’t give our attacking players the scope to get into the game. We were penned in our half and it’s very difficult for your creative players when that’s the case. And I’d include all our attacking players in that.”

But Howe wants the England man to carry on trying to get into dangerous  positions rather than becoming bogged down trying to prevent goals.

Howe added: “We said when we signed him that we want to get him near their goal and see his creative ability.

“I think if you put him in their team you’d see a different performance from him.”
