Now their new Spanish manager is looking to take him on loan for the rest of the season.

Gracia is expected to lodge a formal bid for the Gabon international in the next 24 hours.

Midfielder Ndong became Sunderland’s record signing when he joined for £13.6million from French club Lorient.

That was on deadline day in August 2016.

The winger, 27, spent the first half of the season on loan at QPR.

Meanwhile, furious Watford stars Christian Kabasele and Jose Holebas were caught up in a war of words with the club’s own supporters.

Belgian defender Kabasele was jeered by travelling fans after missing a stoppage time opportunity to equalise in the 1-0 loss at Southampton.

And he reacted angrily to the abuse from one supporter when the players went over to the away end at the final whistle.

Skipper Ben Watson rushed across to pull Kabasele away from the confrontation and then had to intervene again when Greek international Holebas joined in the row.
