Jessica Ennis-Hill WILL finally get World Championship gold medal she was robbed of by drug cheat Tatyana Chernova in 2011 at the London Stadium next month

JESSICA ENNIS-HILL WILL finally be presented with the gold medal she was cheated out of SIX YEARS ago at next month’s World Championships in London.

Ennis-Hill had been upgraded to the world heptathlon title from Daegu in 2011 after Russian rival Tatyana Chernova was finally stripped of gold last year after a lengthy battle by the British star.

Ennis-Hill retired after winning Olympic silver in Rio last summer.

But Chernova still appealed to the Court of Arbitration (CAS) – dragging out the process with Ennis-Hill set to miss out on her moment at the Olympic Stadium – back at the scene of her London 2012 glory.

Chernova finally lost her appeal  – just over three weeks before the start of the World Championships.

And SunSport had learned that the IAAF, the sport’s governing body led by Seb Coe, WILL now fast-track the gold medal presentation to Ennis-Hill.

It is likely to be at one of the morning sessions with the World Championships kicking off on August 4.

Joining her in the re-allocation of medals will be Jo Pavey who has finally been awarded 10,000m bronze from the World Championships a decade ago in Osaka in 2007 after finishing fourth.

She was upgraded when Turkish athlete Evan Abeylegesse failed a drugs test and was stripped of the silver.

Both upgrades for Ennis-Hill and Pavey came after samples were re-tested.

It means Ennis-Hill cements her place as one of the greatest British track and field athletes bringing her tally to THREE world titles as well as Olympic gold at London 2012 and silver in Rio last summer with Pavey, who missed out on competing at the marathon at London 2017, getting her first global major medal.

Ironically Ennis-Hill admitted after winning Olympic gold at London 2012 that losing to Chernova had spurred her on to success at the home Games.

And at one point she even had a picture of Chernova crossing the 800m finish line ahead of her in Daegu pinned up on the wall as she trained for London 2012.

Her coach Toni Minichiello, who also had the same picture on his iPad to remind her that the defeat should never happen again in London.
