John Terry takes gold as Chelsea players take part in hilarious mock-Olympic swimming race in Los Angeles

COULD John Terry about to steal Michael Phelps’ mantle as the greatest swimmer of all time?

Maybe only if Chelsea have another shocking season like they did last term.

Incredibly it was Gary Cahill who got off to a flier with what was clearly an example of jumping the gun

But if there is one thing for sure, if anyone deserves an Olympic swimming medal in the Blues’ team – it’s their captain, leader, mur-man.

The West London club have been enjoying some pre-season training in the sunshine of West Hollywood at the plush UCLA campus, in between friendly matches.

And after Chelsea’s 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid in Michigan yesterday, the players were given some down time to have some fun – but not ditch their competitive spirit.

Club captain Terry can clearly be seen jumping the gun though, ahead of Gary Cahill, Asmir Begovic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Unfortunately for Serbia, Nemanja Matic failed to even dive into the water.

Terry, 35, then hauls himself across the water before raising his arms victorious in the manner of Mark Spitz in the 1972 Games, on his march to seven golds.

Antonio Conte’s side face AC Milan on Wednesday before a final Premier League warm-up game against Werder Bremen on Sunday.

At least Terry didn’t have to celebrate with a fake kit on though.
