DERBY striker Johnny Russell was denied a summer move to Brighton, Sun Sport understands.
Russell moved to the East Midlands from Dundee Utd in 2013 for £650,000 and has featured in all the Rams Championship games so far this season under new boss Nigel Pearson.
The Rams rejected a £4.5m deadline day bid from promotion rivals Brighton for the Scotland International who has lees than two years remaining on his current deal.

The Scot has scored 24 goals for the Rams since moving south and was also being tracked by Birmingham, Fulham and Premier League new boys Burnley.
Derby have made a poor start to life under Pearson with just one win out of their six opening games in the Championship.
