Tarton Tornado Taylor lived up to his name in a brutal clash which saw both men land fierce hits early on.

Davies made it clear he was looking for a killer blow from the off as he held a wide stance in the centre of the ring.

But Taylor’s speed soon worked to his advantage and the Scot was able to start wearing down his slower opponent.

Davies was knocked down at the end of the third round following a flurry of shots from Taylor.

And the Englishman started to regress as his body took more and more lighting-quick shots.

The final knockdown came in the seventh round when Davies bizarrely turned his back as he was being pummelled, leading to the fight being stopped and seeing Taylor being crowned winner.

Reflecting on his win, Taylor said: “I knew my superior skills would come into play. I knew along my boxing would be enough to beat him.

“I went out nice and slow to see what kind of power he had. He could punch to be fair, he was heavy handed.

“His feet were quite slow so I knew I could pick my shots better. He’s got very long arms and up close he throws wide shots, he can’t throw them tight.

“I knew being up close would work. Everything he was trying wasn’t working. He was going in a sulk and doing the bravado so I knew I was getting to him.

“I made him quit. I knew I was catching him and it was working. I was surprised he turned, I had every right to go for him. I’m surprised he quit so early.”
