Juan Bernat: Manchester City line up £20million move for Bayern Munich full-back as Pep Guardiola looks for reinforcements

MANCHESTER CITY boss Pep Guardiola is lining up a £20m move for Bayern Munich full-back Juan Bernat.

The 23-year-old is well-known by the ex-Bayern chief who brought him to Germany from Valencia in 2014 for an undisclosed fee.

Guardiola has drawn up a list of targets for January and next summer, and Bernat is on it along with team-mate David Alaba.

The Spanish international – who can play both left-back and on the left side of midfield – is liked because of his versatility.

An Etihad insider said: “Gael Clichy is out of contract next summer and Aleksandar Kolarov is 31 next month.

“They are slowly coming towards the end of their careers at City and Pep is looking at the future.

“He also knows Pep’s methods and systems. He fits the right age profile and is another Spain international.”

Guardiola is also looking at Bayern full-back Alaba over a potential £40m deal.

The Austrian defender is thought to be his number one target because of his ability to play across the pitch.

Bernat joined Bayern in 2014 from Valencia for around £8m after coming through their academy.

He has played 49 times and scored one goal for the German giants, and has made seven appearances for Spain.
