Juventus star Alex Sandro set to snub Chelsea’s January approaches and sign new deal until 2022


Juventus edge closer to pinning down in-demand defender Alex Sandro with a new five-year mega-money contract.

The Brazilian was heavily linked with a summer switch to Chelsea, but the Italian giants refused to negotiate.

The Serie A giants are willing to hand the 26-year-old a new bumper deal to secure his services until 2022,  according to SportMediaset.

It was also reported that the Juventus ace was not tempted by a move abroad, despite a flurry of bids from the Premier League champions.

Blues boss Antonio Conte was rumoured to be willing to fork out £73million for the defender this summer in a bid to bolster his back line, but the Bianconeri refused to do business.

As part of the new contract, Sandro will reportedly see his annual salary increase from £2.6million to £4.1million.

This vast wage increase will put the 26-year-old in the same wage bracket as some of the club’s biggest names – including Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic and Gianluigi Buffon.

Sandro shot to prominence during his two-year spell with the Italian outfit, which attracted an array of interest during the transfer window.

It is understood that the deal will the new contract will be signed imminently, so Conte may have to look elsewhere in January.

Sandro signed for Juventus in 2015 from Portuguese Primeira Liga club Porto for a fee of £23.87million.

Much to the delight of the Juventus official’s, the Brazilian reportedly begged not be sold during the summer window.

Turin chief Beppe Marotta said: “The only player who has asked us to stay is Alex Sandro. That makes us very pleased, so we will definitely reject Chelsea’s offer at this time.”
