League 2 club Hartlepool United superbly take down vile sexist in eight word tweet


HARTLEPOOL UNITED’s Twitter account has brilliantly slapped down one of its own fans who made a vile, sexist comment.

While football has become far more inclusive, there are still some who hold sexist attitudes towards female fans.

And Twitter user Tim Dawson, who supposedly is a fan of the League 2 club, tweeted the club’s official account saying: “Any chance we can get women barred out of the players lounge please? Its a mans sport.”

It only Pools a few minutes respond with the perfect eight word reply, showing that they do not accept views like this from their own fans.

After their 1-1 draw at home to Yeovil at the weekend, it read: “We could bar sexists instead if you like?”

It prompted Hartlepool fans, and fans of football and human decency in general to reply celebrating the excellent come back – while the tweet was deleted and the @PoolieTim account disappeared.

It even appears Tim has been subsequently banned from the Hartlepool United Facebook page – we wonder why?
