LeBron James hits out at Donald Trump as US President rescinds invite to Super Bowl winning Philadelphia Eagles

Trump claimed that the players “disagree with their president because he insists they proudly stand for the national anthem.”

LeBron hit back as a press conference:  “I’m not surprised. It’s typical of him.

“I know no matter who wins this series, no one wants the invite anyway.”

James, 33, also took fire at the President last September when Trump pulled the same stunt with the NBA-winning Golden State Warriors.

“Going to White House was a great honour until you showed up!”

The Tweet was one of the most popular the whole of last year, with 645,000 retweets and nearly 1.5million likes.

James added at today’s press conference: “I think as long as he’s in office… things like that are going to continue to happen.

“It’s a lot of things that we believe in as Americans that we don’t feel that he’s for.

“There are a lot of people that believe that he’s not for the people or doing things that’s right by the people.”

Trump’s latest comments sparked division across the US, with many players and commentators claiming that anthem protests are not aimed at disrespecting the country or military, but are instead a peaceful protest.

However, Trump’s support backs the man in charge, with more than 80 per cent of Republicans disagreeing with anthem protests.

LeBron’s Cleveland Cavaliers are currently losing 2-0 in the NBA Finals to the Warriors.
