SPORTING LISBON are looking to pip Leeds into landing maverick Argentinian boss Marcelo Bielsa, according to reports in Portugal.
The 62-year-old is believed to be on the radar of the Whites as the club look to replace former manager Paul Heckingbottom at Elland Road.
It is believed that chairman Andrea Radrizzani has identified the former Argentina, Chile and Lazio boss as the man to bring Premier League football back to the club.
Bielsa has been out of a job since December after being sacked by Lille, and although known for his brilliant tactics, often hits the headlines for his turbulent mood swings.
But according to Portuguese news outlet Record, Lisbon have joined the hunt to nab the former Marseille manager.
Lisbon can offer Bielsa European football next season with the Europa League after finishing third in the table behind Porto and Benfica.
However the report also claims that the Lions are interested in bringing ex-Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari to the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
Leeds‘ Managing Director Angus Kinnear recently announced the club will make a swift appointment after bringing an end to Heckingbottom’s four month spell in charge of the side.
