Leeds trio land roles in Aussie soap Neighbours – and an unlikely offer

LEEDS are ‘really’ making a mark Down Under after landing a line on soap Neighbours.

The Rhinos have also landed a sponsorship offer out of their trip to Melbourne to try and become the world’s best – from bad guy Paul Robinson.

Leeds Rhinos players Ryan Hall, Stevie Ward and Kallum Watkins with Neighbours star Stefan Dennis on the set of the soap.

Kallum Watkins, Stevie Ward and Ryan Hall found themselves unlikely screen stars after visiting the set of the famous soap, appearing as extras.

And after flying to Melbourne for the Rhinos’ World Club Challenge match against NRL champions Storm on Friday, back-rower Ward ended up with a speaking part – one word, really.

The scene, set in The Waterhole, sees Robinson let on to the three and let them know he has tickets for the game.

Then he makes them an offer he feels they cannot refuse, to have his name on the back of their shirts.

“We got some extras work done and even got a line in there,” said 24-year-old Ward, who got the gig, Hall claims, because he was upset that he missed out.

“The pressure was on for the scene but Hally backed out. I said, ‘I’ll do it if you want.’ When I grow up, I want to be an actor!”

The Leeds trio, who will feature on the show in May, were also met with an offer from villain Robinson, played by actor Stefan Dennis.

And winger Hall revealed there were discussions among the three when they were told they would have a speaking part on Ramsey Street.

The 30-year-old said: “There was a bit of uproar and debate about who wanted the line. I went shotgun but Stevie was pretty much crying that he didn’t get it!

“I felt sorry for him.”
