Leeds United hat-trick hero Samuel Saiz faces a six-game ban after claims he spat at Port Vale’s Joe Davis

LEEDS new-boy Samuel Saiz is facing a six-game ban if he is found guilty of spitting at Port Vale defender Joe Davis.

The FA have launched an investigation into Vale boss Michael Brown’s claim that Saiz spat in Davis’ face in the 40th minute of Wednesday night’s EFL Cup clash between the sides.

They will not be taking the matter any further against the star.

The Elland Road outfit forked out £3million to sign him from Spanish Second Division side Huesca last month.

But an FA spokesman revealed: “We are aware of the incident and we’re looking into it.

“We shall contact both clubs and ask for their observations ahead of studying all the available evidence.”

As well as accusing Saiz of spitting at Davis, former Leeds midfielder Brown also claimed that he had asked his old club to take the Spaniard off at half-time following the alleged incident.

But that request was refused by Leeds.

And Saiz went on to complete a debut hat-trick as his side romped to a 4-1 win over the League Two outfit.

An Elland Road spokesperson said: “We are disappointed by allegations made following our game with Port Vale, and we are also disappointed by the treatment of our players throughout the match.

“Our player denies the allegation and we are confident that the referee’s report will vindicate him.”
