LEICESTER CITY have had a £20million bid rejected for Sporting’s striker Islam Slimani.
Claudio Ranieri has made the 28-year-old Algerian international a priority late this transfer window.
The Leicester boss has the idea to pair Slimani with Jamie Vardy, but more with fellow Algerian mate Riyad Mahrez in the Premier League.
Ranieri is willing to reinforce his attack with Champions League football being a new experience for the Foxes.
After Thursday’s draws, Leicester will compete against Porto, Club Brugge and Danish side København in Group C.
Slimani scored 28 goals in 40 appearances with Sporting last season and has since attracted Premier League clubs.
Ranieri has already two attacking options with Vardy-Okazaki and Vardy-Ulloa.
But with Ligue 1 club Monaco interested to sign the latter, room would be made in the perfect spot for Slimani to be a Leicester player.

Sporting will also kick-off their Champions League campaign in September and they would want to secure a replacement before selling Slimani.
West Bromwich and Swansea City also offered £18m to Sporting for Slimani, but both were turned down earlier this summer.
