Leicester keen to replace Riyad Mahrez with Eden Hazard brother Thorgan – ahead of Chelsea

LEICESTER want to replace Riyad Mahrez with Eden Hazard’s brother Thorgan, according to reports in Germany where plays for Borussia Monchengladbach.

Flying whinger Mahrez handed in a transfer request at the end of the winter window, in a bid to force through a £60million move to Manchester City.

But the Foxes owners stood firm and demanded closer to £90m, which City baulked at.

Mahrez annoyed his Leicester team-mates by missing the final training session before the Everton clash they lost on deadline day.

And he has been stuck with a cheeky nickname since the summer deadline that this year’s antics will not have helped shake off.

Bild now claim Leicester’s transfer bosses are planning for life without the Algerian and former Blues midfielder Thorgan is high on their hitlist.

Chelsea have first refusal on the playmaker – with big brother Eden and little brother Kylian still at Stamford Bridge – but don’t look that interested.

Like Mahrez, Thorgan Hazard is a left winger who can play down the middle behind a central striker.

The 24-year-old joined Chelsea in 2012 but – after a couple of loans – he completed a permanent switch to ‘Gladbach in 2015.

But the Belgium international has always been linked with a return and previous Blues comebacks for Nemanja Matic and David Luiz will give him hope.

Thorgan Hazard has scored seven Bundesliga goals so far this season, his best return for the German club in four seasons, with plenty of games still to play.

Last February, the forward opened the door to a Premier League return.

Thorgan said: “The Bundesliga is a good championship and for now, I want to stay here.

“In the future maybe I will be in England again.

“I hope I can end my career in Belgium but at the moment I don’t think about the end of my career.”
