Leicester transfer news: Foxes agree £30m fee for Islam Slimani with Sporting as deadline day deal nears
LEICESTER have agreed a £30million fee to sign Sporting striker Islam Slimani.
Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri is hoping to complete the club-record signing of the Algerian star as he completes his squad for the Champions League campaign.
The Premier League champions have been working on the deal for the past week and Portuguese side Sporting were reluctant to sell.
But Leicester have returned with an increased offer which the Lisbon side have been unable to resist.
Slimani, 28, will now hold talks over his personal terms but is expected to complete a move to the King Power Stadium before the transfer window closes.
He has been released from international duty for his medical and will join Algerian international teammate Riyad Mahrez at the club as Ranieri bolsters his attacking options.

Slimani has scored 48 goals in just 82 games during his two year stay at Sporting, and the Foxes believe he can translate that form to the Premier League.
He will provide valuable support for Jamie Vardy as Leicester put together a squad they believe is capable of mounting a solid defence of their title and compete in Europe this season.
