Leicester trigger Jonny Evans’ £3.5m West Brom release clause ahead of Man City
JONNY EVANS is closing on a move to Leicester after the Foxes activated his £3.5million relegation release clause at West Brom.
The Nothern Irish centre-back is believed to have held positive talks with Claude Puel, and has agreed a move to the King Power Stadium.
It is believed the 2015/16 Premier League champions will pay the Baggies two payable instalments of £1.75m.
The 30-year-old had been a key target of Manchester City this summer, but has given up his dream of joining the Citizens.
Evans was a shining light in an otherwise disappointing season at the Hawthorns, as the club were relegated back to the Championship after eight years.
Leicester failed with a £23m move for the ex-Manchester United ace back in January, but now look set to get their man.
