City chief Pep Guardiola claims anything is possible from his ‘extraordinary’ side despite losing again, to Manchester United on Saturday.

Klopp said: “City have the chance to strike back. That is football — you have always the chance to respond.

“They had two results which maybe no one really expected.

“We had to play our best and United were lucky — in the first half City could have scored five or six.

“Then remember United did have a week before the game and City made a few changes.

“That was against one of the best teams in the world — United.

“We will have to be at our best again. That’s how it is.

“When we lost here 5-0 in the beginning of the season, everybody saw the quality of City. So we know about them.”

Guardiola knows his team will have to be perfect to reach the semi-finals but believes they have the quality.

He said: “We have 90 minutes — and in football, all sports, everything can happen.

“Of course, to go through you have to make almost a perfect game — create chances, be clinical, concede few chances, defend well. All the conditions have to be perfect.

“We’ve done it many times, not just once or twice, and created a lot of chances in a short period of time.

“My team is extraordinary, not comparable to many others. It’s top, exceptional. It’s a joy to be manager of them.

“This team is ready to fight with all the teams in Europe, I am pretty sure, but the mountain you have to climb is high.”

Guardiola is set to start Sergio Aguero this evening having been without his top scorer for last week’s first leg at Anfield.

The Argentine returned from a knee injury as a late substitute in the 3-2 defeat to United.

Now the 30-goal hitman is poised to make his first start in more than a month.
