Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho reveals his training regime as he gets himself up to speed for the new Premier League season

LIVERPOOL defender Mamadou Sakho has taken to Instagram to show off his pre-season workout regime.

The Frenchman, 26, has been widely tipped to leave Anfield this summer after a trio of fall-outs with boss Jurgen Klopp and a drugs scandal at the back-end of the 2015-16 season.

However, Sakho is hard at work preparing for the new season regardless, putting in the hard graft in the gym.

In the lengthy clip posted to the social media site, Sakho shows himself working out with the battle ropes – used heavily by MMA fighters – as well as working on his weights.

As well as working on his upper body, the Frenchman worked on his leg strength and looked in good shape with Liverpool’s first Premier League game just a week and a half away.

Klopp’s Reds will take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday August 14, after their friendly showdown with La Liga giants Barcelona at Wembley on Saturday.

Sakho’s summer has been plagued with controversy so far, first of all being called a drugs cheat in March, before eventually having his anti-doping violation dropped by Uefa.

He was then sidelined for the start of the new season regardless with an Achilles injury, before falling out with Klopp THREE times.

The club claimed Sakho was sent home due to injury, however Lucas Leiva, who has a damaged hamstring, and Joe Gomez – whose Achilles has also ruled him out of the big kick off – have both stayed with the squad.

Despite all of the drama though Sakho remains in good spirits, as he works hard to earn back his starting spot.

The French centre-back was in superb form going into his ban, and Klopp – as well as the Kop faithful – will be hoping he can replicate that in the 2016-17 season… The German boss’ first full term as manager.
