Liverpool team news vs Chelsea: Dejan Lovren set to return for Jurgen Klopp’s side and Philippe Coutinho should feature

LIVERPOOL defender Dejan Lovren is expected to return to the starting line-up to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after an eye injury.

The Croatia centre-back missed Saturday’s 4-1 win over Leicester after sustaining a badly-bruised eye in training and midfielder Lucas Leiva had to deputise.

Klopp has been impressed with what he has seen of his squad so far this season.

"Liverpool is a big club. The moment you sign it should be that you can't keep the smile off your face.

"It's my job to find a way which makes it quite enjoyable for them to play here. I haven't heard anything different so they all enjoy it. It's for all of them to take the next step.

"It's a good moment so it's for all of us, the next step. I'm responsible for not letting it grow too big. That's what we talk about.

"It's not about you cannot reach the expectation of other people. We work on it — to try and reach it as soon as possible."

If the teams' last encounter, in a pre-season friendly in the United States, is anything to go by, Friday's game beneath the floodlights could be a spicy affair.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas was sent off for an ugly foul on Ragnar Klavan, while Liverpool's Marko Grujic had to go to hospital following a clash of heads with Bertrand Traore.

It could also be spectacular. The two teams average more shots on goal per game than any other sides in the division, while Liverpool's players have covered more distance than any other team.

Liverpool likely (4-2-3-1): Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Matip, Milner, Lallana, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino, Coutinho.

Chelsea likely (4-1-4-1): Courtois, Ivanovic, Cahill, Luiz, Azpilicueta, Kante, Matic, Willian, Oscar, Hazard, Costa.
