The Guardian report that Reds have contacted Roma about the player but are yet to make an official bid.
Alisson currently earns £25,000 a week but is to be offered an improved contract whether he stays or goes.
While Reds are likely to make further contact with Roma after Russia 2018, they could lose out again to the Champions League winners Real.
