LORIS KARIUS has been slammed by Sky Sports pundits Shay Given and Graeme Souness after his mistake led to Manchester City’s equaliser against Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s men took an impressive lead through Alex Oxalde-Chamberlain.
But City levelled moments before half-time after Karius allowed Leroy Sane to fire one in at his near post.
There were groans from the Anfield faithful as the ball hit the back of the net, with many concerned by Karius’ performances this season.
Fellow shot-stopper Simon Mignolet has also failed to inspire this season, and Given reckons Klopp’s rotation policy is having a negative effect on both players.
He said: “To be fair to Karius, he’s disappointed. His head goes into the turf. He knows he’s made a mistake. He’s beaten at his near post.

“Karius will look back at this tomorrow and be hugely disappointed. His hands are low. You keep them low in one-on-ones but this isn’t one, this is a shot.
“He knows it’s an error, he should be saving it. It’s poor goalkeeping and Klopp changing them week in, week out… it doesn’t give either of them any confidence.”

Souness echoed his fellow pundit’s opinion, adding: “The goalkeeper should not get beat there at the near post, simple as.
“He sees it. Just be strong and do whatever you have to do to stop it from ending up in the net. A disappointing goal (to concede) for Liverpool.”
