Luke Shaw spared another trip to Holland this week where he broke his leg as he is out with hamstring problem

LUKE SHAW is likely to be spared a traumatic return to Holland this week due to a hamstring problem.

The Manchester United defender broke his leg against PSV Eindhoven almost exactly one year ago to the day.

The horror injury ultimately ended his season and also his dream of playing for England at Euro 2016.

In late August the Europa League draw saw United and Shaw handed another trip to the Netherlands in the corresponding week – this time against Feyenoord.

However the £30 million man tweaked a hamstring in the second half of Saturday’s derby defeat against Manchester City.

And that means he is unlikely to be risked when Jose Mourinho‘s squad board the flight to Rotterdam on Wednesday morning.

Shaw revealed last month it crossed his mind he may never play again as he struggled to walk for six months after that night.

He also saw a psychologist to ensure he was in the right mental state to push on with his playing comeback.

Mourinho may have spared Shaw the trip anyway as he has vowed to use the competition to give some of his squad players a run out.
