Manchester City fan pays for honeymoon with £2k won on £20 wager Wayne Rooney would join Everton – despite losing betting slip

A MANCHESTER CITY fan will raise a toast to Wayne Rooney – after winning £2,000 with a quirky bet that will pay for his honeymoon.

Jordon Fawcett’s delight briefly turned to despair – because he LOST the betting slip from a £20 wager he made seven years ago that Manchester United striker Rooney would rejoin Everton.

But BetFred paid out after accepting a sample of Jordon’s handwriting as proof, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Roofer and dad-of-two Jordon, 33, explained why he made his FIRST EVER bet – and how it struck gold at 100-1.

He said: “I was on a roof working with my uncle, talking football. I decided to put a bet on to wind up Reds fans.

“At the time the talk was all about Wayne joining City or Barcelona. I never thought he would join City.”

Jordon stored the betting slip in a keepsakes box at his mum’s home.

But when he moved out the room was taken over by his brother Blaine – and the box went missing.

Jordon said: “I turned the house upside down to find the slip when Wayne did move to Everton – my brother was laughing, but I wasn’t – it was a lot of money!

“It was my first ever bet, so I remembered it clearly.”

Jordon will use the money for a trip to Majorca after he marries fiancee Roxanna Partovnia next month.
