Foden, 17, was awarded the Golden Ball for being voted the tournament’s best player in India earlier this year.

On top of that, he made his Champions League debut for Man City in October, coming off the bench in the 75th-minute of the win over Feyenoord.

The top three were chosen from an original list of ten talented youngsters which included Liverpool youngster and Foden’s England Under-17 team-mate Rhian Brewster.

Another Liverpool youngster, Ben Woodburn was on the original list of ten, having made his debut – and scored – for Wales’ senior side.

Up against Foden, 2017 has been a record-breaking year for 2015 Young Sports Personality of the Year winner Downie.
