Manchester City still interested in bringing in Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez to the Etihad

MANCHESTER CITY are still reportedly keen on bringing Riyad Mahrez to the club.

Pep Guardiola’s men failed with a late swoop for the Algerian winger in last month’s transfer window.

The deal failed to transpire as Leicester priced the Prem leaders out of a move.

But despite City’s refusal to go all out to sign him a few weeks ago, the Manchester Evening News claim they still remain interested in the winger.

The collapse of his switch to the Etihad caused Mahrez to go AWOL from the Foxes as he made his unhappiness clear.

The attacker has since returned to action and helped Leicester to a draw against Stoke last weekend.

His captain Wes Morgan told the Leicester Mercury this week that his team-mate has been a model pro since coming back into the fold.

He said: “He’s a good player – he’s getting straight back into it and I was glad to see him out there.

“I think he looked more like himself. Everyone knows what’s happened after the transfer window but he has come in and got straight back to work.

“He’s always been focused. He’s been great – he’s settled back in as if he never went away so it’s fantastic for us and it’s fantastic for him.”

Despite those kind words, most are still expecting the 27-year-old to depart the King Power Stadium at the end of the campaign.

Leicester are currently eighth in the table and are into the FA Cup quarter-finals.

They are next in action on Saturday when they take on Bournemouth in the Premier League.
