The kit is said to draw inspiration from former classics, with one noticeable difference being the return of navy socks.

City first wore the darker shade in the 1936-37 season – when they went on to win the league.

The Eastlands giants also donned the navy socks in the crucial 1998-99 season, when they bounced straight back to the top-flight following relegation a year earlier.

Elsewhere there are two very noticeable new features – one of which being the introduction of a button around the collar.

The other is addition of dark blue stripes along the shoulders and upper arms.

City will sport sleeve sponsor Nexen Tire on the left arm and the Premier League champions badge on the other – starting tonight.

The kit – to be worn by the first-team, women’s and youth teams – was helped in being launched by City in the Community.

The club turned to young people who represent their foundation to promote the kit and be the stars of the launch in a heartwarming gesture.
