Manchester United 1 Liverpool 1: Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp square up on the touchline… but it all ends in a handshake

JOSE Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp squared up on the touchline during the feisty derby between Manchester United and Liverpool… but it all ended in a handshake.

In the dying embers of the 1-1 draw, Red Devils midfielder Ander Herrera pulled the shirt of opponent Roberto Firmino – with the latter seemingly pushing him in the face.

In fact, he only got pushed in the chest despite him going down like he had been shot – and it was enough for Mourinho to make the case that Firmino should get a red and Klopp to believe Herrera was making a meal of it.

The result was the two bosses having a heated argument too close to each other for comfort – with only fourth official Craig Pawson separating them.

And bizarrely, at one point Klopp ducks away from the Special One's grasp before jumping up and down on the spot.

But it all ended peacefully moments later when Michael Oliver's full-time whistle went and the pair shook hands.

When asked if there was any problem between the two, Mourinho said: "Nah. He thought I was asking for his player to be sent off, I wasn't.

"No problem at all.

"I think the game was correct, I think the players gave everything in an emotional way, professional way. I think the referee managed very well that part of the game, aggression but good.

"So I think the game was a great publicity for the Premier League all around the world."

James Milner gave Liverpool a first-half lead from the penalty spot after Paul Pogba's ridiculous handball, before they threw the kitchen sink at their opponents.

And it paid of as in the final minutes, Zlatan Ibrahimovic craned his neck to score a header to seal the draw and halt his side's run of nine wins on the bounce.
