According to the Star, he picked up the quid and gave it to a nearby ballboy.

And he reportedly told the lad: “Every pound can help make you a millionaire.”

The Portuguese also had milk and water thrown at him in the closing moments of United’s 3-2 win over City, when they came back from 2-0 down to deny their rivals a title clincher.

Two goals from Paul Pogba and a winner from Chris Smalling helped the Red Devils stage an epic comeback as Pep Guardiola’s side blew the chance to clinch the Premier League title by beating their local enemies.

And as City surrendered the two goal lead and stared defeat in the face, the mood turned sour after fans thought they would be popping the champagne.

Mourinho was involved in a furious incident following City’s 2-1 win at Old Trafford earlier this season, confronting keeper Ederson after the Premier League clash in December.

It caused a fracas in the Old Trafford tunnel, with Mourinho alleging City’s players were showing disrespect by over-celebrating with loud music.

United’s win means City cannot win the title during their next Premier League match, when they visit Tottenham on Saturday.

But Guardiola’s side face the daunting task of attempting to overturn a 3-0 aggregate deficit against Liverpool in Tuesday’s Champions League return leg at the Etihad.

United midfielder Ander Herrera has been accused of disrespect after being filmed spitting on the Manchester City badge printed on the ground outside the tunnel.

The 28-year-old Spain international has denied intentionally doing so.
