Manchester United cleared of wrongdoing in Paul Pogba transfer, but Fifa will open proceedings against Juventus


FIFA have confirmed Manchester United have been cleared of any wrongdoing over the transfer of Paul Pogba.

But football’s governing body have opened up disciplinary proceedings against Juventus for their role.

It was announced in May that they had asked the two European giants for clarification of all aspects of the world-record deal following reports the France international’s agent, Mino Raiola, had earned £41million from the deal.

A Fifa spokesman told ESPN: “We can confirm that disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Juventus F.C.

“We cannot comment further as proceedings are ongoing.

“We can confirm that no disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Manchester United."

United insisted on the back of the investigation that they were calm about the situation.

And have been proven correct, with Fifa confirming they will face no further action.

However, is understood that third-party ownership rules may have been broken by an agreement between the Serie A champions and Raiola.

Should the Champions League finalists be found guilty, potential punishments could range from a fine to even a potential transfer ban.

Pogba has scored nine goals in 51 matches since re-joining United for £89m in the summer.

He has received criticism from some parts for an underwhelming campaign — but helped his side win the EFL Cup and Europa League final, netting in the latter.
