Manchester United fans face six per cent hike in corporate ticket prices as Jose Mourinho prepares for major summer spending spree

MANCHESTER United are hiking the price of corporate tickets by up to six per cent next season – despite the club being far from guaranteed a place in the Champions League.

Fans wishing to watch in the Centennial Club must fork out £165,000 for next season, with packages including a “gourmet five course menu” and “luxury padded directors’ armchairs”.

Prices were reduced last year as the Red Devils stuttered under Louis van Gaal.

But next year, as Jose Mourinho looks to restore United to Premier League title challengers, a table for six will cost around £30,000, 20 per cent higher than 2014/15, the Mail on Sunday reports.

Jose Mourinho has said his current squad is “very far away” from where he wants it to be and has demanded a £200million war chest this summer to bring in the players he feels he needs.

He has already forked out £149million since arriving last summer but is looking to make wholesale changes before next season.

United have been heavily linked with Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann and are thought to be considering a move for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.

Prices for regular seats will be frozen for the sixth consecutive season, with the cost of some seats being slashed by up to 50 per cent.

However, the club is said to feel that businesses are in a stronger position to take a rise in prices and have set the tariffs accordingly.

A club insider said: “There has been a large investment in the United team so the price increases in the corporate areas are seen as fair. There is always a waiting list for tickets including for the suites and lounges.

“The cost of packages were lowered for this season so the comparison with two years ago is marginal.”

United will be hoping to boost their chances of a top four finish when they face Sunderland away on Sunday afternoon.

They will also have a chance to take a step nearer to a Champions League spot when they travel to Anderlecht on Thursday for the first leg of their Europa League quarter final.
