The three finest English midfielders of a generation just couldn’t seem to do it together in an England shirt.

During a Q&A session on Twitter, one user asked the Bayern Munich ace: “Being a top midfielder, who’s the best out of Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes?”
Kroos, 27, came back with the simple response: “Paul Scholes”.
That sparked a heated debate among fans on the thread below his Tweet.
Liverpool fan John O’Sullivan replied: “The same Scholes that was forced into international retirement by Lampard and Gerrard, and the same Scholes who even Carragher had more Balon D’or nominations then.”
One user said: “Seems the fashionable answer these days now that they’ve all retired, guarantee you if players were given a choice of who they want to play with whilst them three were still active, the majority would of said Gerrard/Lampard.
“Just my opinion, backed up by every individual honour available, goals and assist statistics, and the fact he couldn’t get a sniff in centre midfield when all three were in their prime.”
‘I DON’T REGRET’ Paul Pogba snubbed Real Madrid because his heart told him to re-join Manchester United
A reply came back: “A) Scholes has more trophies than the other two combined.
“B) imagine caring about a central midfielders stats. by your logic Fellaini is better than Iniesta cause he has more goals.”
Plenty of United fans got excited about Kroos’ choice, reading a little bit too much into it all…
