MANCHESTER UNITED will fight Arsenal over Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, according to reports.
The Gunners have targeted the Greek international, 29, as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his back four.
But German outlet WAZ claims United chief Jose Mourinho is ready to launch a rival bid.
Sokratis has just one year remaining on his Dortmund deal and the Bundesliga outfit are prepared to cash in.
Kicker is reporting that BVB chiefs will accept around £17.5million for the giant centre-back.
Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is said to have close ties with Sokratis’ agent.
