MANCHESTER UNITED are set to make an offer for Cristiano Ronaldo with the Real Madrid star unsettled in Spain, according to reports.
Spanish outlets claim United officials have told the star’s agent Jorge Mendes they would make a “heavy investment” to rescue the Portuguese icon.
The news comes just a day after Real Madrid held a meeting with Mendes – one that left Ronaldo “hurt” and “pensive about his future” at the club.
Spanish outlet AS claim Ron had been “very happy” after the Champions League victory but is now “uncertain and sad” at his situation.
Ronaldo’s friend Nuno Gomes last week revealed the star feels “put out” regarding his current situation in Madrid.
Gomes claimed: “I don’t think [Ronaldo] will go, but he’s annoyed that they said his deal would be renewed and with the passing of time, nothing’s happened.
“He is the best player in the world.
“If you look at how he is paid, Cristiano is very underpaid and he wants a sign from the club like Barcelona did with Xavi, Iniesta and Messi.
‘HE FEELS SAD’ Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract row stems from broken promises at Real Madrid, claims Portuguese star’s pal
“He was promised the club would renew and raise his wage. When he asked the club they said it wasn’t the moment.
“He feels a bit put out, sad because they didn’t stick their their word.”

Now, Spanish outlet El Confidencial have revealed Mendes received a “comforting call from Manchester United” regarding Ronaldo’s future.
However, the report also claims Ronaldo is yet to respond to United’s offer and is waiting for a “gesture” from Real president Florentino Perez.
It is thought Ronaldo still favours sticking around at the Bernabeu, after comments made by pal Gomes.
The journalist revealed: “There is not better club for Cristiano than Madrid. He likes the city. He wants to stay and he doesn’t see a better club to win titles and Ballons d’Or.”
