MANCHESTER UNITED midfielder Ander Herrera spits on the Manchester City crest during half-time of the derby.
Social media has gone into a frenzy after footage emerged of Herrera’s act during the Old Trafford side’s 3-2 win at the Etihad yesterday.
There is no suggestion the Spain star’s act was intentional – with Manchester United announcing the midfielder is “mortified” at suggestions it was intentional.
A United spokesperson said: “Ander has seen the footage of the incident and is mortified at any suggestion that his actions were deliberate.
“It was entirely accidental and there was no intent whatsoever.”
But raging City fans laid into the 28-year-old for what he did, while United fans praised his actions.
