Following his two-goal heroics against Liverpool, he appeared to issue a come-get-me plea, and Manchester United immediately appeared as the frontrunners.

However, the Sunday Express claim Bale, 28, is waiting to see who replaces Zidane as Real Madrid‘s next manager before making any final decision over his future.

The Frenchman stunned the footballing world when he called a press conference to announce his resignation from the Bernabeu.

And, as yet, there is no clear over who will replace him in the Real Madrid hotseat.

Bale found himself marginalised under Zidane and has now started the past two Champions League finals on the bench.

United have been long-term admirers of the Welshman winger and even tried to sign him from Tottenham the same summer he moved to the Bernabeu in a then world-record £86million move.
