Manchester United to add anti-truck bollards and 11-foot steel gate at training ground to thwart terror attacks

MANCHESTER United are building a ring of steel around their training ground to protect stars from terrorist lorry attacks.

The Premier League giants have outlined the measures in planning applications to local officials. Club bosses say of the complex, on the outskirts of Manchester: “A range of measures are proposed.

“This level of security is required due to the high profile of Manchester United and to ensure visitors are controlled and the complex remains secure.”

A source said: “The police have told potential terror targets to be vigilant and United’s fame puts them near the top of the pecking order.”

A Premier League game was postponed after a fake bomb was found at Old Trafford last year.

It had been used as part of a security drill.
