Manchester United transfer news: Jose Mourinho targets Bayer Leverkusen starlet Benjamin Henrichs


MANCHESTER UNITED are hot on the trail of Bayer Leverkusen whizkid Benjamin Henrichs but face competition from Manchester City and Chelsea.

German newspaper Bild claims the Premier League trio have been following the defender, 19, since an impressive performance in a Germany youth international 12 months ago.

Henrichs – a full-back who can operate on either side of the defence – broke into Leverkusen’s first-team this year.

The Under-21s international has played nine full Bundesliga matches this season as well as making four Champions League appearances.

Henrichs has admitted there was interest but did not comment on his future.

He said: “English clubs were interested after a national match in England in September 2015 with the German U-19s.”

The youngster has been given his first call up by Germany manager Joachim Low for their current squad.

He could make his full international debut against San Marino or Italy.
