Manuel Pellegrini already at odds with West Ham board after just two weeks

WEST HAM boss Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly already upset with his new employers less than a fortnight into the job.

The Chilean was appointed as replacement to David Moyes last month.

However, the Daily Mirror claim he is already at odds with the club’s board.

The report states Pellegrini has had a number of his transfer requests knocked back, raising early concerns.

Friends of the ex-Manchester City boss have been told that he only accepted the role at London Stadium on the back of several promises.

But he now feels a number of those are being unfulfilled after several of his suggestions for new additions to the squad were rejected.

Pellegrini has even hinted at the power struggle while back in his homeland.

During a talk, he said: “The challenge with West Ham is spectacular. Now I will force the owners to form a competitive team because they are rich but careful with money.

“We are trying to get the owner to loosen up to make an important investment and thus bring the players we need. The idea is to sign a great figure.”

“If we manage to get a big figure it is very important for the status of the club because that will help convince other players.”

Co-owner David Gold declared West Ham will “probably spend more money in this window than we’ve spent in any window in the past” following Pellegrini’s appointment.

The new chief was expected to be handed around £75m to spend on new players.

But so far the only arrival has been full-back Ryan Fredericks on a free transfer from Fulham.

Now Pellegrini is bracing himself for a struggle in convincing the Hammers hierarchy to splash the cash.

One player his has ruled out a move for is countryman and his old City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

He said: “Signing [Claudio] Bravo for West Ham is not viable either. It is not in West Ham’s salary possibilities.”
