HOTHEAD Mark Hughes could face an FA charge after losing the plot and being sent to the stands during the 4-0 thrashing at home to Spurs.
The rock-bottom Potters boss lashed out during the first half after Marko Arnautovic was booked for simulation, seconds after Hughes felt his side should have had a foul when Dele Alli sent Jon Walters sprawling.
Hughes left his technical area to let rip at assistant ref Peter Kirkup, then got involved in a war of words with fourth official Jon Moss in front of his dug-out.
And he completed an angry hat-trick by mouthing off at Spurs fans as they taunted him as he stormed down the tunnel.
Afterwards, Hughes held up his hands and apologised for his histrionics. But it’s unlikely to keep him out of hot water with the beaks!
“I came out of my technical area,” said Hughes when asked why he had been sent packing.

“I was upset and felt the assistant referee hadn’t flagged for a clear foul. The referee then thought it was the right decision to book Marko when he was just trying to take evasive action.
“Two decisions I thought should have gone our way so I reacted in a forceful manner. When you come out of your technical area, it’s not allowed – sometimes you forget that.
“Mr Moss, bless him, decided that warranted a sending off, which, by the letter of the law it did. So I have to hold my hands up.”
However, the Welshman denied using foul and abusive language towards fourth official Moss – or Spurs’ fans.
“I saw someone on Sky TV maybe saying I came out of my technical box, came back in and swore, which I didn’t,” he said.
