A HOST of UFC stars have taken to social media to make their views known on the news of Brock Lesnar’s failed drug test at UFC 200.
Lesnar, who famously said during the pre-fight conference call “I’m a white boy, and I’m jacked. Deal with it,” is now being dealt with by USADA after his A-sample tested positive in a pre-fight, out-of-competition test.
Lesnar will be afforded due process as USADA confirms whether the WWE star’s ‘potential anti-doping violation’ is 100% confirmed. If it is, Lesnar could face a two-year ban from the sport.
Lesnar’s opponent at UFC 200 Mark Hunt is understandably livid. The Kiwi lost a decision to Lesnar, took a pounding in the final round and saw his opponent walk away with a cool $2.5million.
Speaking to Fox Sports in Australia, Hunt demanded HALF of Lesnar’s record-breaking $2.5million fight purse or he wanted out of the UFC.
“I said, ‘If you don’t give me half his s**t, I’m walking away from this company, I want out of here. This is rubbish’,” Hunt said.
“I lost on that night to some f***ing cheat. There’s no way he could weigh 265 like me – he was about 500 kilos, there was no f***ing way he was weighing in at my weight.
“It just makes a mockery of the whole sport, it makes a fool out of all of us, all the people who’ve paid money for top-end fighting – now all they’ve got is a cheat against a guy who doesn’t cheat.”
While the news of Lesnar’s tainted A-sample has rocked the sport, the UFC’s fighters appear to be anything but shocked. Indeed, the response from the fighters on social media has been nigh-on unanimous, with many using Nate Diaz’s famous quote, “I’m not surprised, motherf***ers!” to express their personal take on the news.
USADA’s Ryan Madden confirmed the situation, saying: “With Mr Lesnar having spoken publicly about the issue, I can confirm he has been notified of a potential anti-doping policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample on June 28, 2016.
“I can also confirm that results from his previous samples collected by USADA were all reported as negative.
“Although USADA will not be providing any further specifics of the case at this time, I can tell you that Mr Lesnar – as with every athlete under the UFC anti-doping policy – will be provided full due process under the rules.”
Meanwhile the WWE has made a very short, non-committal statement, saying simply: “Brock Lesnar has not performed for WWE since WrestleMania and is not scheduled to return until Sunday, August 21.”
And Lesnar himself gave a similarly short statement to the Associated Press, saying simply: “We will get to the bottom of this.”
